Les Gorges du Tarn

Spectacular cliffs
for a magical and bewitching site

Located in the heart of the Grands Causses Natural Park, close to the Cévennes, the Tarn and Jonte Gorges are famous for the exceptional beauty of their still wild landscapes.

These steep cliffs sheltering an emerald-coloured river form a breathtaking scenery that you can admire from your room and all the common areas of the hotel de la Muse.

The Gorges du Tarn et de la Jonte are classified as a “Grands Site de France et d’Occitanie”.

They can be admired from several extraordinary viewpoints located on the Causses, just above: the Méjean, the Causse noir and the Causse de Sauveterre.

The Gorges have many hamlets of character which are scattered on both sides of the banks of the Tarn and the Jonte: the medieval village of Sainte Enimie, classified among the most beautiful villages of France, la Malène, Meyrueis or Peyreleau-Le Rozier labelled “small towns of character” and which can be reached on foot from the hotel.
The troglodytic hamlets of Saint Marcellin and Eglazine are little gems to be discovered only on foot; a path starts from the hotel.

Once you have had your fill of wide-open spaces, there is still a whole cultural, architectural and gastronomic heritage to discover: from the Templar and Hospitaller villages to the Aubrac and Larzac plateaux, via Rodez and its Soulages Museum, the Millau Viaduct or the Roquefort cellars. All this while visiting some of the most beautiful villages in France (Aveyron alone has 10), medieval castles, abbeys, and other architectural wonders.

Discovering the
Aveyron, Aveyron, Lozère and the Tarn Gorges

A few kilometres from Millau and a stone’s throw from the village of Le Rozier, the Hôtel de la Muse is in the territory of the Grands Causses natural park, which is itself adjacent to the Cévennes National Park.

Here we are on the border of Aveyron and Lozère, at the confluence of the Tarn and Jonte Gorges, destinations renowned for the beauty and diversity of their landscapes.

Not to be missed

Tour by car or motorbike
for a day or a few hours…

Along the winding roads full of charm of the Tarn and Jonte Gorges, here are some must-see places to discover for a few hours and not miss anything during your stay.

Departure from the hotel in the direction of Les Vignes with a stop at the panorama of the sublime point; then a short stop in the tiny and charming hamlet of Saint Chely du Tarn. Obligatory stop in the village of Sainte Enimie, classified among the most beautiful villages of France.

From Sainte Enimie you can then reach the village of Meyrueis by crossing the Causse Méjean whose magnificent desert plains are reminiscent of Mongolian steppes, and finally reach Le Rozier (the small village near the hotel) through the Jonte Gorges.
